School of Humanities and Sciences下的Department of Communication开设有MA in Journalism、Co terminal M.A. Degree Program in Media Studies和PHD in Communication Theory and Research三个学位。该校有一个校友Rebele及其妻子在该校创办了一个Rebele Internships Program，每年可提供在New York Times，Wall Street Journal等知名新闻机构的实习。该校Daniel Pearl Memorial Journalism Internship项目也可提供学生在Wall Street Journal的实习。

斯坦福新闻研究生项目规模较小，因此，也保证了每个学生能够独立、个性、直接地与教授进行学习和研究。完成规定的学习后，学校便通常会安排学生进行实践和实习。最近几年，学生有部分去往The Wall Street Journal、the Associated Press、ABC News、NBC News, Google和许多其他著名新闻报纸和杂志等地工作。实习安排率高。
